Varanasi’s Clean Sweep: EMS Bags ₹208.6 Crore Sewerage Duo

EMS has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for two sewerage infrastructure projects in Varanasi, awarded by the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam, with a combined contract value of approximately ₹208.6 crore (excluding GST).

The first contract, valued at around ₹143.8 crore, includes surveying, soil investigation, design, and execution of sewer network laying works along with household connections across five wards—Durgakund, Nariyan, Sarainandan, Jolha Northan, and Bhelupur. These works form part of a broader sanitation improvement initiative covering 18 wards in the city.

The second contract, worth about ₹64.8 crore, involves similar sewer network development in Hukulganj and Nai Basti wards, along with the construction of a 23 MLD sewage pumping station aimed at strengthening wastewater management infrastructure.

Both turnkey projects are scheduled for completion within 18 to 24 months. The contracts are part of ongoing efforts to upgrade urban sanitation systems, enhance sewage treatment capacity, and improve overall public health and environmental infrastructure in Varanasi.
